Buffalo Canalside is at the heart of downtown Buffalo’s waterfront revitalization. Located at the revived 1825 terminus of the Erie Canal, the site’s storied history is just as exciting as its future. It is considered the jewel in Buffalo’s crown, hosting hundreds of events throughout the year, many of which are free or low cost to the public.

Canalside Buffalo is the Broadway of the city’s downtown area. It is one of the most sought out attractions in the entire area hosting thousands of visitors annually. It also is adjacent to shops, restaurants, a hotel and has many other amenities, including a magnificent skating rink.

In this century, the infusion of the public dollars has produced this public investment in what was once the dark side of town where truckers went to refuel, grain scoopers grabbed a beer, and street racers burned rubber on an empty stretch of highway. And, like Albany, Buffalo’s legacy as one of the country’s important cities was due to its location. And, like Albany, this area had deteriorated with time. In fact, this original terminus of the Erie Canal, in its renewed state, has attracted over $300M in new development.
